In the mid 1990's climate change and environment issues were not hitting the headlines as they do today. But for Ark Resources' founders it was already a major concern. Jan had completed a Masters Degree in Environment Science with a focus on greenhouse issues and Geoff, a Mechanical Engineer, had recently founded an energy management company. They both believed in the Triple Bottom Line approach to building and the environment as a basis for organisational success and founded Ark Resources to provide targeted sustainable design advice for the property sector.
Jan Talacko - Master of Environmental Science - Certificate Environmental Management
Jan has over 15 years experience in working collaboratively with all design disciplines to deliver practical and cost effective sustainable design solutions. He has led numerous reviews of environmental performance of development projects for clients in the private and public sectors and is thoroughly familiar with ESD outcomes from all types of building and development projects.
He has been directly involved in the development of ESD policies and sustainability rating tools for Government and regularly appears as an expert ESD witness on greenhouse and other sustainability issues at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) and Planning Panels.
Geoff Andrews - Bachelor Engineering (Mechanical) - Member Institution of Engineers (Australia)
Geoff is well known in the energy management field and has specialised in energy efficiency since 1982, including as an in-house energy manager, a consultant, a project manager and energy engineer. In 1991 he founded an energy auditing and energy management implementation company. Geoff is an accredited greenhouse verifier. He undertook the technical development of sustainability rating tools for the City of Port Phillip, City of Moreland and the Department of Sustainability & Environment.
He has written numerous energy efficiency guides and manuals and has contributed to the development of Federal and State Government energy efficiency schemes. In the past 20 years, he has been involved in analysis of energy and resource management and implementation of solutions at over 800 sites.
